Phoenix College: Cultivating Tomorrow’s IT Workforce
Phoenix College’s new Maricopa IT Institute gives students hands-on access to real-world technologies.
Video is communication when it comes to commercial applications, so Sound & Communications addresses video technology with equal emphasis to our audio technology coverage. Among the video technologies we cover monthly are LED videowalls, LCD displays, laser projectors, 3LCD projectors, 3-chip DLP projectors, digital signage, videoconferencing, video signal processing, video scaling and video-over-IP, as well as others. Our installation features explore digital signage networks on education campuses, massive LED videowalls in stadiums and everything in between. Each month, Shonan Noronha, EdD, pens our “Sign Age” column, in which she explores the latest technologies, applications and implications of digital signage. In addition, Pete Putman, CTS, writes our “AVent Horizon” column, in which he analyzes current AV trends, typically offering a special focus on video technology. Discussions include whether videoboards or projectors will dominate in the future, as well as what the compression options are for massively high-resolution video signals.
