Screen Innovations is introducing products enabled with Zigbee 3.0, the latest iteration of the Zigbee wireless-communications protocol. Zigbee 3.0 turns the company’s motorized shades and screens into communications powerhouses, enabling them to seamlessly interoperate with a range of other devices that adhere to the protocol, including select brands of lighting, voice control and automation systems, from companies such as Amazon, Apple and Google. Based on a dynamic mesh topology, the Zigbee 3.0 ecosystem becomes more resilient as the number of devices on the network expands. Screen Innovations’ initial North American rollout of Zigbee 3.0 includes its ultra-compact line of Nano indoor shades and Solo screens; others will be added in time. Screen Innovations has also built the protocol into a number of edge routers to leverage the strength of communications across networked products. Designed for plug-and-play installation, the edge routers can be easily added to the network.
