Barix’s RetailPlayer System Upgrade

Barix has launched upgrades for its RetailPlayer multisite background-music-streaming platform. The RetailPlayer system is intended for large-scale retail, hospitality and corporate applications, enabling customers to stream music and messages to any number of locations over the internet. Robust hardware endpoints feature buffers that enable fast channel switching and help overcome network performance interruptions. Meanwhile, the cloud-based or customer-hosted Barix RetailPlayer Portal provides centralized management, monitoring and stream switching for the hardware players across multiple sites through a browser or mobile device. New features included in the upgrade are: hierarchical management to simplify configuration across large numbers of endpoints; stream and local-playlist failover to enhance fault tolerance; QR-code-based control to simplify local branch operation; and new interfaces for “drop-in” integration into workflows based on earlier Barix solutions.
