Extron Electronics has settled its patent infringement lawsuit against Crestron Electronics. Filed in June 2014, the lawsuit alleged willful infringement of Extron patents related to the company’s Retractor product line. The settlement includes a cash payment to Extron, and a requirement for Crestron to withdraw its prior cable retractor models from the market and fully replace the lineup.
“We’re pleased to bring this suit to an expedient and positive conclusion,” said Andrew Edwards, President/CEO of Extron. “Much as any market leader, Extron will vigorously protect our technologies and intellectual property against those who choose to simply copy our designs.”
The Retractor series of cable retraction modules was Introduced in 2009. The Retractor series offers AV and data connectivity including HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, VGA + Audio, USB, PC audio, Cat6 Network and DC power.
Crestron did not offer any comment.
