Barco has acquired Vancouver, Canada-based MTT Innovation Inc. MTT is a developer of next-generation projection technology with expertise in high dynamic range, applied imaging algorithms, advanced color science and specialized hardware development.
“With this investment, we are augmenting our expertise in the field of high dynamic range technology. This underpins our long-term leadership in projection technology.” said Eric Van Zele, Barco President/CEO. “MTT’s technology is still in a research phase and will need further de-risking and development over the years to come. We welcome MTT’s team to Barco and look forward to many years of successful collaboration as applications for high dynamic range and new illumination technologies spread to end markets such as cinema, commercial AV, simulation, automotive and virtual reality.”
In addition, Barco has opened its new headquarters in Belgium. Located at the Beneluxpark in Kortrijk, the 230,000m2 One Campus is a landmark for the region: an all-glass, circular building surrounded by green spaces and connected to three other Barco facilities. The campus will not only be the new home to Barco’s 1250 Belgian employees, but will also serve as an open house for customers, partners, foreign colleagues and other stakeholders. One Campus marks also a new way of working, centered around dialog, collaboration and, consequently, innovation. Barco is convinced that its new operating base will be of great support in the future evolution of the company. The One Campus replaces Barco’s older premises in Kuurne and Kortrijk
The official inauguration of One Campus was celebrated in the presence of King Philippe of Belgium, followed by a roundtable discussion with a delegation of Flemish industry representatives. A delegation of Barco employees opened the Euronext market with the opening bell-ceremony at the new campus.
