A. Silverman A publishing veteran, David
has been editing magazines and books about the AV,
photographic and printing fields since 1970. He has also written articles for more than
a dozen magazines. Silverman is a former Associate
Publisher of Audio Visual Communications magazine,
PEI and other publications, and edited the first
InfoComm (then NAVA) Trade Show Daily in 1977.

Dan Ferrisi has been involved in the audiovisual industry from the beginning of his career. An editor and writer, he has covered numerous technical installations, including in the house of worship and entertainment segments, and analyzed emerging trends. His involvement with industry associations has encompassed detailed trade show reports. For IT/AV Report, the sister publication to Sound & Communications, he has hosted roundtable discussions about pressing technological issues, such as digital signage.

Gary Kayye, CTS
Involved with the AV industry for about 20 years,
Gary Kayye has worked for several major AV companies
in sales and marketing, and is principal of Kayye
Consulting, Inc., which specializes in marketing consulting
and training development services. Gary has been chairman
of InfoComm's Professional Education & Training Committee
(PETC), InfoComm's Design School Committee and InfoComm's
Installation School Committee. He also served on the
InfoComm Board of Governors and has taught at industry
shows such as CEDIA, NSCA, InfoComm and NAB. Gary
was named Educator of Year by InfoComm in 2003 and NSCA's 2007 Instructor of the Year. He
writes the monthly “Sight Lines” in Sound
& Communications, as well as his twice-yearly
“Kayye’s Krystal Ball” technology
forecast.

Peter Mapp, FAES, FASA, is a UK-based acoustics and sound systems design consultant. Most of Peter’s work relates to the design, measurement and troubleshooting of sound systems for almost all types of buildings, ranging from performing arts spaces and churches (modern and reverberant traditional), to stadiums, transportation facilities, and sports and leisure facilities, to shopping malls and long tunnels (don’t ask). He also has strong research interests in psychoacoustics and speech intelligibility, and is chairman of the international standards group rewriting IEC 268-16, the standard for the objective rating and measurement of speech intelligibility by STI (Sound Transmission Index). Peter has presented more than 80 papers at AES, ASA and other technical conferences, and regularly teaches classes on sound system design and optimization and other related acoustics issues in the US and Europe. He is a contributing author to several international audio reference books.

FASA, a principle with Kinsella-Marsh Group, Inc., is a fellow of the Acoustical Society of America and president of the National Council of Acoustical Consultants. He has more than 20 years of experience in architectural and environmental acoustics as well as design of sound and audio-video systems. Dave has consulted on performing arts facilities, houses of worship, sports facilities, conference and convention centers, major resorts, theme parks, corporate headquarters buildings and educational facilities. has more than 35 years of marketing, sales, management, research
and technical experience in the audio and video industry.
David’s career has included radio broadcasting,
advertising, marketing and business. He has extensive
experience with live sound engineering, marketing
for well-known manufacturers, audio system design
and consultation, and fixed installation contracting.
He holds a Masters in Telecommunications from Indiana
University and an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from
the University of Chicago. He writes Sound & Communications’
monthly “Down to Business” column.

PhD, is CEO of Lee Communication Inc., Orlando
FL. A licensed minister, David has an extensive academic
background in the field of communications, and more
than 25 years of experience as a systems integrator,

group for RTKL, a 60-year-old worldwide planning,
architecture, design and creative services organization.
Based in Baltimore MD, he has worked on projects for

and the US Naval Academy. Author of “Architectural

Thomas C. Rauscher
President of Archi-Technology, LLC, Rochester NY,
which provides consulting, project management and
documentation services for communications, life safety
and automation projects, Tom drafted the original
CSI (Construction Specifications Institute) Division
17--Telecommunications document. Along with others,
Tom’s efforts have resulted in the establishment
of three new divisions in the 2004 Edition of the
MasterFormat. He is active in CSI, BICSI, TIA and
NSCA.

Joel Lewitz, PE
Founding principal of Lewitz and Associates, Inc.,
Joel has more than 30 years of experience in acoustics
and sound-system design, having provided acoustical
consulting services on 1000+ projects. His consulting
services include sound-system design and specification,
installation supervision, acceptance testing and instruction.
His environmental noise work includes design, measurement
and control for a variety of acoustical environments.
Joel has lectured and published widely on all types

R. David Read
David started his career in communications as a messenger
boy for Western Union and advanced to the position
of telegrapher in 1949. He became a telegrapher/wire-chief
for Southern Pacific and Santa Fe Railways, and then
a microwave and automation technician. He has worked
for Rauland-Borg, Dukane Corp. and the pre-Telex Altec
Lansing, as well as helping NSCA organize its educational
programs. A member of the AES and ASA, an associate
of USITT and a frequent participant in BICSI proceedings,
Dave is also a participating member of the Morse Club
of America.

Shonan Noronha, EdD, an independent producer and training consultant, works in collaboration with corporate communications, HR, IT and AV departments of large enterprises to deliver multimedia content across disparate networks. Jim Stokes
of Jim Stokes Communications, has worked in all aspects
of AV media since 1960, on both the business and production
sides. He has designed and built recording studios
as well as a heart/lung electronic diagnostic amplifier
for listening to heartbeats and respiration, used
for patient education in hospitals. In addition to
being an AV technician for two Minnesota community
colleges, Jim was recognized by the American Lung
Association with two first-place national public relations
awards for radio spots he produced about respiratory
health.
